The sweetie and
gorgeous Laura accepted to do this interview for the mag. She took the time to
respond to all the questions I asked her and believe me there were a lot! So,
take a cup of hot tea, get warm under feather comforters, and be ready to
discover the beautiful soul hidden behind the blog The Found Space.
Can you tell me a bit about
you (basic infos, what you study…)?
I'm Laura, I live in hobart
Tasmania (small island at the bottom of Australia) and currently I'm just
creating what I love and working at the local surf store!!
Last year I
lived in Melbourne, I had a really rough time and making friends was hard
especially ones that were on thesame level as I was, creatively speaking. I
started to reach out to people about music and what they love, and then The
Found Space was born!!! Specifically the playlist project section was an idea I
had because I always saw people listening to music on the trains, and really
feeling it - and I couldn't ask them what they were listening too! So the idea
is there are so many people on the blog now and you can just see what they
listen too if your too nervous to ask :)
How you would describe your blog?
The music has a really big place on your blog, but
what’s the place of music in your life?
How would you
define your music tastes?
Music
is HUGE for me. It always has been. I have a real connection to some songs and
that is just incredible. My dad has always been into music and since forever he
has collected records. I am lucky enough to have a huge record player and
awesome speakers that allow me to really listen. I love everything!!!!
Literally, ill try everything. RadioHead is my number one favourite. And sufjan
Stevens , go and listen to them.
Where you draw
the inspiration to create things? And how you express ideas you have in your
mind?
From
plants, good songs, the sunshine. Through the found space, and through Instagram. I love connecting with everyone on there with
ideas and letting them flow into great things.
Can you tell me a place: where you feel
creative? In peace? Or where you’d like to go?
My
room :) at the moment it has seven huge plants. And my bed is so comfy I feel
so creative there, I usually get my ideas when I'm about to fall asleep so I
have a pen and paper close by. Also my beach house which is about an hour away
from hobart - being so close to the ocean and the mountains at once is
incredible.
What people you
meet and interview brings into your life? How they inspire you in your creative
journey?
Everyone
I meet has a different story, they are all facing their own challenges and
doing inspirational things. It makes me realize that everyone has a little
spark you just have to find it! And there are so many ideas out there they are
just waiting to be created by people like you.
Can you tell
me more about your love story with Japan?
I fell in love with Japan two
years ago on a family trip, I knew I had to go back. So this year I travelled
for two months interviewing such funky people it was great. I really want to
live there someday, that would be a dream. Lots of cute people and so many
plants
Why did you
become vegan? Did it change your life?
Because I believe it's the right thing to do.
Once I read up about it, watched some horrific videos that was it. 100% I've
become more compassionate, stronger and I stick with my beliefs more. I
actually found out I was allergic to dairy also, which is awesome because I use
to have such bad excema and now it's totally gone. I feel great and my heart
feels great because i am saving so many beautiful lives that deserve love just
as we do.
You wrote a complete ‘Vegan guide’. Did It was easy to
mix veganism and Japanese customs?
Not at all, Japanese people don't really understand the
concept of veganism, so i had to learn how to ask for no meat eggs and dairy.
It hasn't really been pushed into their culture at all, however they consume
way less meat an dairy than places like America. However there were a few gems
of places that has great vegan food, you just have to look hard.
